Great job, Cullen. I'm totally fascinated by lesbian pulp, the way it subverts the mores of the era and then--as you point out--disciplines that impulse by means of a disingenuous third act which reestablishes the social order. This is the structure of most noir really. I'd never heard of Meaker, but I'm going to hunt down this book asap.

And thanks to Todd for the heads up about Highsmith. That looks like another must-read.
