Frank - FAREWELL recieved a a Region 1 release back in 1999 but is now out of print. There were a couple UK Region 2 dvds that have been released - but you would need an all region player to watch it.

Mitchum is my favorite actor. Period. I have not seen this movie, though, and will see if NetFlix has it. Thanks for writing about it, Cullen. One of my fave Mitchum movies is Farewell, My Lovely. I even have a 16mm print of it, but would love to have a DVD copy. I can't seem to locate an NTSC version. Was one ever released?

I think a lot of the most unlikely stuff improves with age - because it no longer matters. Taken out of their moment with all the baggage of expectation and the popular temperature, they finally stand or fall on their own two, (or one or three) legs. Similarly, plenty of supposedly great films, books, records age badly and we realize that it was the package and not the product we responded to so enthusiastically. - Which is not the same as a piece of shit being enjoyable regardless - that happens too. Thanks for the tip.
